Hugo Race is an extraordinary artist, active from the 1980s on the Australian post-punk scene, when he played on several Bad Seeds albums, in the 90s he founded his own band True Spirit, with which he recorded several albums, for several years he has also been co-creating more or less occasional projects with many other musicians (eg Dirtmusic with Chris Eckman and Chris Brokaw, Sepiatone with Marta Collica, Merola Matrix or Transfargo).

The new album "Between Hemispheres" is now branded only with his own name. It is a collection of instrumental pieces, much more experimental than his blues-post-punk albums with True Spirit, raw acoustic instruments here face analog sounds in vast sound spaces. Hugo amazes here with a combination of drama and melancholy, brutality and beauty. His spicy blues remains - but somewhat hidden, like a radiant background.

Recorded in Africa, Europe and Australia, "Between Hemispheres" refers to his project Transfargo (instrumental album "Mil Transit" from 2004) and experimental albums True Spirit: Wet Dream and Ambuscado. Here Hugo uses African stringed instruments such as ngone or kora, he interweaves them with analog synthesizers, digital pulsations, radio signals from space, guitar and thus composes a kind of extraordinary experience in which his own songwriting is reflected.

A journey into the icy rift between quantum and numbers, oversized meditations pass through the synapses between the left and right sides of the brain, between thought and expression, between two oscillating magnetic poles - between the hemispheres.
